A Royal Birthday

Happy birthday to Reid.  Three on the third is called a "Royal Birthday" (when your age matches your birthdate).

What a great year it's been!

Dear Reid:

Where do I begin?!  Oh how we love you, little man.  You are the light of our lives.  On the (very few) times that you're not around it is so quiet.  What did we ever do before you were born?

You are a joy to our family.  You are full of energy.  You love your family and often want me to sing, "We are fam-i-ly...Reid, Avery, Morgan and me and Da-deee".  This last year has seen some huge milestones for you.  You gave up your crib, your bottles, your diapers (yah-hoo) and most importantly you became a big brother.  You are such a wonderful big brother.  You love your "giwels" and always want to know where they are and what they are doing.  You are so kind to them and love to make them laugh.  Out of everyone, you are the best at making a point to shower them equally with attention - showing no favorites.  You're just all around a great kid!

You never. stop. talking.  Ever.  You have the vocabulary of an 8 year old ('actually', 'orca', 'penalty', etc).  Daddy is still your main squeeze although Mommy is enjoying a closer relationship now that we have more time together.

Your whole family adores you.  You bring joy to our lives.  Our "Ash-ee and Dustin" family adores you as well.  What a gift to have so many people who love you.

Though time is flying by, we are so excited about your future.  Happy 3rd Birthday, Reid.

Love,
Mommy, Daddy, Avery and Morgan

Today Reid and I stayed home with the girls.  We started out letting him have a sugary cereal for breakfast - his choice - as a special birthday treat.  We played frogs, colored a poster, had Grandma and Grandpa over (to put up baby gates), he had a long nap and I made cakes and supper.  We had Grandma and Grandpa and Auntie Kathy and Glenn over for supper as well.  Reid wanted another Whale cake (even though that's what he had last year).  Reid got to open some presents.  One from us (a polar ice set), one from Grandma and Grandpa (a magnetic sports guy) and Auntie Kathy (a book and a tractor).  He was thrilled!

He gets to have another party with Ashley (his babysitter) and the daycare kids tomorrow (thanks, Ashley for the awesome cake - he'll be thrilled).  We are then having ANOTHER family party for him on Sunday where (hopefully) his other Grandma and Grandpa can come and his cousins, too.  I'm going to make a hockey cake for that party!

We watched this video today and Reid actually started crying.  I think he saw me being emotional and was a bit sad about his old house (which is odd because he usually doesn't mention it).  I took a video of him watching the video ( I tried posting it but it isn't working - and it's late- I'll maybe try another time).  Pretty cute.

And, of course, we had to take the bear picture.  Check out past bear pictures here and here.

A wonderful day!
